Rachel Feirman’s Pollination Education Mural Brings Nature to Sciencenter’s Family Learning Area

April 9, 2024

The Sciencenter is thrilled to announce a new mural in its Family Learning Area by local artist Rachel Feirman. The pollinator-themed mural transforms the 275.5 sq. ft. space with vibrant bees, plants, and flowers that ignite curiosity and educate families about pollination.

Rachel Feirman shares her inspiration behind the mural, “It is a mission of mine to share the idea of togetherness in nature and in humanity. We must work together as a community to have a healthy planet and to put an end to many of the plights we face as inhabitants of this planet. Through the lens of my vibrant, colorful, and bold artistic style, I intend to create an idyllic nature space at the Sciencenter that will bring a sense of childlike joy to all that enter it.”

Adrienne Testa, Director of Exhibits & Facilities at the Sciencenter, expresses excitement about the collaboration, noting that local artists like Feirman enrich the Sciencenter experience for visitors. She shares, “Working with Rachel on the redesign of the Family Learning Area has truly enhanced the space. Her childhood memories of creativity at the Sciencenter have inspired her work in the Family Learning Area, making the space even more remarkable.”
