Science Park
Explore sound, motion, water, and physics in our multi-level outdoor Science Park.
Included with museum admission, the Science Park is open April 1 – November 30, weather permitting.
Discover Ithaca’s best outdoor play experience at the Sciencenter!
Make music with steel drums and bells, bounce on the world’s only Kevlar cable suspension bridge, explore sound waves with our whisper dishes with a friend, blow bubbles of all sizes, dig to discover treasures in our sand table, and so much more!
Curiosity Playground
For our littlest visitors, ages four and under, the Curiosity Playground outside the Curiosity Corner offers infants, toddlers, and preschoolers space to crawl, climb, and explore in their designated space.
At Little Sprouts Farmers’ Market, kids can plant and harvest toy vegetables in a garden bed and take them to the market to sell. They can use the cash register to sell their vegetables, weigh them with a scale, and transport them with toy wheelbarrows.
Explore the Science Park’s New Exhibits
The Sciencenter’s beloved Science Park is a true story of community. Volunteers and local partners have helped shape this outdoor science playground, transforming it into a space where curiosity, play, and learning come alive.
Visitors can now explore the Stump House with its playful ceiling illusion, climb the Rope Net Climber, and experiment with two sound exhibits: Street Musician and Windpipes. The redesigned Waterfall features three interactive water elements: Mushroom Spring, Scooping Wheel, and See-Saw Pump.
The Science Park is open from April through November, though water exhibits may close during colder months.
This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Award No MA-253353-OMS-23, Tompkins County Tourism, and the JM McDonald Foundation.
