For Researchers

Resources!

Share your research and scientific work.

The Sciencenter partners with many research groups and individual scientists throughout the U.S. By partnering with the Sciencenter, you can help inspire the next generation of scientists by sharing your research with a large public audience.

The resources listed below will help guide researchers and scientists through the process of partnering with the Sciencenter.

Broader Impact Solutions for Research Proposals

Creative outreach ideas for research grants:

With 30 years of experience in developing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) exhibits and programs for national dissemination, the Sciencenter can provide you with access to a large audience, staff expertise in K-12 and informal science education, and a powerful way to address the “broader impacts” requirement for your next grant proposal. By partnering with the Sciencenter, you can help inspire the next generation of scientists through your research.

We have partnered with many research groups throughout the U.S., such as Cornell University’s Department of Astronomy, the Nanobiotechnology Center, Purdue University’s Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation, the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research, and Oregon State University’s Dept. of Civil and Construction Engineering.

Typical outreach projects:

One way of indicating a real commitment to broader impacts is to include it in the budget. Below is a list of possible outreach projects.

  • Participating in science communication workshops to strengthen communication and public engagement skills ($4,000 – $5,500 per year)
  • Sharing your research with public audiences including museum floor programing, community forums, offsite community events, and more ($1,500 – $10,500 per year)
  • Working to develop STEM Enrichment programs for camp and after school learners ($3,000 – $4,000 per year)
  • Mentorship and co-creation of public engagement experiences with our teen Future Science Leaders program ($2,000 – $19,500 per year)
  • Supporting a Cornell student intern to learn more about informal STEM education and deliver public science programs ($6,000 – $10,000 per year)
  • Sponsoring the development and construction of a new exhibit at the Sciencenter ($500K)
  • Sponsoring the development of a complete traveling exhibition with 10-15 exhibits ($1.5M)
  • Or suggest an idea…
