Honoring Our Friend Julian Pompilio

February 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Julian Pompilio, an Exhibit Fabricator who worked with us for the past 10 years. Through his curiosity, playfulness, and knowledge he brought immense joy to the Sciencenter community. Julian was an exceptional woodworker whose handiwork can be found throughout the Ithaca community. Some of the exhibits he was most proud to have worked on are Dam the Creek, the redesign of Watergates, and the traveling exhibition, Life on the Edge.

In addition to his work at the Sciencenter, Julian played the drums in numerous local bands, photographed the night sky, and loved to kayak in the wooden boat he built himself. His kindness and uplifting spirit touched everyone around him, and he will be greatly missed.

The next time you visit the Sciencenter, please send a rubber duck down Watergates in honor of our good friend Julian.
