Join SUNY Cortland and Cornell University lab students to learn about animal science! Participants will have the opportunity to examine the parts of a cow's stomach, manipulate trays and jars of cow feed, examine microorganisms from a cow's digestive fluid under a microscope, put their hands inside a live fistulated Cornell cow, and learn about how making milk production more efficient can reduce our environmental impact and improve food security.
Master Composters will lead hands-on composting activities to teach about the art and the science of composting at home. All ages welcome – come with your curiosity and any questions!
Join educators from the Johnson Museum of Art as we explore connections between art and science! Create a watercolor resist painting, then see its colors change under red, blue, or yellow light. Create an optical illusion with your own thaumatrope, or explore animation by making a zoetrope strip. Be sure to stroll through the animal room, where we highlight artists who are inspired by the natural world.
