Starlab: Portable Planetarium

Reach for the stars... and show them to your students!

Look, it's the Big Dipper!

The Sciencenter can bring the Starlab Portable Planetarium to your school and take your students on an exciting tour of the constellations in the night sky. Programs can be tailored to specific grade levels. Topics include astronomy, earth science, history, and mythology.

The 45-minute Starlab presentations are led by a Sciencenter educator.

New York State Learning Standards for Mathematics, Science and Technology:

• Standard 1 - Analysis, Inquiry and Design (Scientific Inquiry)
• Standard 3 - Mathematics (Measurement)
• Standard 4 - Science (Physical Setting, The Living Environment)
• Standard 6 - Interconnectedness (Systems Thinking, Models, Equilibrium and Stability)

New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies:

• Standard 2 - World History

Space Requirement

Starlab requires a 22-foot by 22-foot space with a ceiling height of 12 feet.

Seating Capacity

Starlab can seat 20 people. Sciencenter staff will help divide larger groups into shifts.

Cost and Reservations

The Starlab rental rate includes the Sciencenter presenter cost:

• $225.00: One Program
• $75.00: Each Additional Program

The Sciencenter can schedule a maximum of five shows per day at your school. Discounts are available if you make a reservation for multiple full days.
